SUMMARY:Europaeum Spring School on Transatlantic Relations
DESCRIPTION:The Europaeum Spring School 2026: \nTransatlantic Futures \nUniversity of Oxford | 13 – 15 April 2026 \nThe transatlantic relationship has long been a cornerstone of global politics\, economics\, and security. From the Marshall Plan and NATO’s founding to contemporary challenges of trade wars\, climate cooperation\, and digital governance\, the partnership between Europe and North America continues to evolve in response to shifting geopolitical realities. Today\, this relationship faces unprecedented tests: rising powers in Asia\, authoritarian challenges to democratic norms\, technological competition\, and the imperative to address global issues collectively. The future of transatlantic relations will be shaped by generational change\, evolving public opinion\, new forms of multilateralism\, and the integration of non-state actors into traditional diplomacy. Understanding that future requires examining not only traditional diplomatic and economic ties but also emerging areas of cooperation and competition in cyberspace\, space exploration\, energy transition\, and global governance reform. \nThis Europaeum Spring School will bring together master’s and doctoral researchers at Europaeum member universities to explore scenarios\, methodologies\, and case studies that illuminate possible paths forward for transatlantic partnerships: between Europe and the United States\, Canada\, and the states of Latin America and the Caribbean.

SUMMARY:The Europaeum History & Classics Seminar 2026: Decolonising Europe’s Past
DESCRIPTION:Europe’s histories have long been shaped by perspectives that marginalise the experiences and agency of colonised peoples. Scholars and institutions across Europe are now re-examining them critically to rethink methodologies\, boundaries\, categories\, and periodisation to recover lost voices. \nThis Europaeum History and Classics Seminar brings together master’s and doctoral researchers to ask how historical narratives inform contemporary inequalities\, cultural representations\, and political debates. \nThe Europaeum invites applications from students at network member universities in all relevant disciplines. They may wish to join the discussions or to present a 15-minute paper based on their research. We especially welcome proposals for papers addressing the theme in relation to the following topics: \n\nColonial histories and imperial legacies in Europe\nClassical reception and empire\nRace\, ethnicity\, and identity in ancient and modern contexts\nArchives\, sources\, and epistemic violence\nMuseums\, collections\, and cultural restitution\nMemory\, commemoration\, and contested monuments\nDecolonising curricula and pedagogical approaches\nSlavery and its legacies in European societies\nIndigenous perspectives and knowledge systems\nMigration\, diaspora\, and postcolonial identities\nLanguage\, translation\, and power in historical texts\nArchaeological practice and colonial legacies\nGender\, sexuality\, and intersectionality in postcolonial history\nComparative colonialisms and decolonisation movements\nEnvironmental history and colonial extraction\nPublic history and community engagement\nCounter-narratives and subaltern histories\nReconciliation\, reparations\, and historical justice\n\nApplications should include the Europaeum application form\, a brief CV\, a statement of purpose (up to 500 words)\, and a reference letter from their supervisor or academic advisor. Those who wish to submit a paper should also add a short abstract of the proposed paper (up to 500 words). \nFor more information about how to apply visit: https://europaeum.org/programmes/events-activities/ \n

SUMMARY:Europaeum Autumn School: Brussels Policy Seminar
DESCRIPTION:The Europaeum is pleased to invite applications for our longstanding Policy Making Seminar in Brussels. The European Union faces a moment of acute geopolitical uncertainty as the Von der Leyen Commission enters the defining phase of its second term. Conflict is ongoing on its eastern border and in the Middle East. Transatlantic relations are shifting and illiberal politics are on the rise within and beyond its borders. The Commission must press ahead in the fields of defence\, competitiveness\, enlargement\, and the green and digital transitions against this backdrop. Will it test the limits of European governance to a point of strain? \nThe 2026 Policy Seminar will examine how the Von der Leyen Commission is navigating the present moment of turbulence — where its political will is being forged\, how it is trading-off priorities\, and how it is adapting to a year of external shocks. The seminar programme includes visits to several EU Institutions (including the EU Parliament) and involves talks and discussions with top decision makers and analysts engaged with shaping Europe’s path toward greater strategic independence and resilience. \nThe Europaeum would like to invite to Brussels up to 20 students currently enrolled on master’s or PhD courses at a Europaeum member university. Successful candidates will be provided with accommodation free of charge and will be reimbursed reasonable travel expenses within Europe.

SUMMARY:The Europaeum Technology Forum 2026 - Space Governance: The Fragile Frontier
DESCRIPTION:Space has long been governed by a settled\, if imperfect\, international order. However\, the rapid rise of commercial spaceflight\, geopolitical turbulence\, environmental risk\, and regulatory fragmentation are placing that order under acute strain. Understanding how humanity governs our most fragile frontier has never been more urgent. \nThis Europaeum Seminar will bring master’s and doctoral researchers at Europaeum member universities together in Helsinki to examine the governance of space from an explicitly interdisciplinary perspective. Participants may come from a natural or applied sciences\, law\, philosophy\, or a social science background. They will explore the intersecting challenges of space physics\, international law\, and political economy that together define humanity’s relationship with outer space.
