Prague Declaration on role of universities

We print below the final version of the Prague Declaration which was issued last month from the joint meeting of Universities represented in the COIMBRA, UNICA and EVROPAEVM networks, composed of some 100 institutions, marking the 700th birth anniversary of Charles IV. The Declaration reminds us all of the special role played by universities down the ages since the time when the King of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Emperor was born 700 years ago, in research and innovation, in creating critical minds and educated ‘citizens of the world’ and perhaps above all in developing and safeguarding universal values that combine in the creation of democracy – including  humanism, tolerance and openness. Please see the Declaration here.
