‘Europaeum Ideas’ – The renamed and reshaped Core Programme

In May this year, the governing bodies of the Europaeum decided to rename and reshape the Core Programme. Postgraduates from our 17 member universities will henceforth be able to take part in the ‘Europaeum Ideas‘ programme, brought together under the stapline ‘The Making and Shaping of Europe‘.  The programme’s multiple events will now be divided into three categories:

  • four seasonal schools each year – dealing with big, recurrent themes, and a stronger policy focus than up to now;
  • two to four other flagship events on other issues each year, drawn from the options of a Classics Colloquium, History Seminar, Leadership Challenge, Futures Forum, Popular Culture Forum and/or Technology Seminar;
  • two or more ‘associated’ or ‘partnership’ events each year, co-organised with individual member universities.

The four seasonal schools will take the following form:

  • a Winter School on the European economy, society, the environment and/or digital transformation;
  • a Spring School on the place of Europe in the wider world, including foreign affairs, trade, development, and/or security and defence;
  • a Summer School on some aspect of European culture, including literature and the arts;
  • an Autumn School on EU politics, institutions and policy-making, replacing the previous ‘Brussels policy seminar’.

Future Newsletters will report on the events to be held under the Europaeum Ideas programme, starting in January 2026.
