Dr Pierre Keller (1927-2026)

The Europaeum is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Dr Pierre Keller. Dr Keller was not only the first Chair of the Europaeum’s Trustees, a position he held from 2004 until 2017, but also a great intellectual and financial supporter. When he stood down as Chair, the Europaeum was delighted that he was willing to become Honorary President.

Dr Keller was a passionate believer in the importance of the Transatlantic dimension in international affairs, something which he believed would return despite the ongoing disruption between Europe and the current administration in the USA. Dr Andrew Graham, the current Chair of the Trustees, commented: “I admired and respected Pierre enormously, and I greatly enjoyed working with him. He combined sharpness of perception, firmness of belief and great courtesy. Without his wisdom and strength, especially during the years 2016 to 2018, it is not clear that the Europaeum would still exist. We shall miss him greatly.”

A full obituary to Dr Keller will be published at a later date.
