Current Europaeum Scholar, Filip Scherf took part in three media engagements earlier this month.
His appearance on Czech TV was an in-depth conversation between experts on Russia and Ukraine. The discussion focused on the ongoing war. Filip contributed with his expertise on Russia – Moscow’s war aims, foreign policy context and domestic political and economic situation. The discussion covered obstacles to peace in Ukraine. It assessed Russia’s war aims and factually challenged many too optimistic – and too hopeful – narratives about the possibility of a lasting and just peace. Filip offered a critical assessment of the Alaska summit, as well as the broader Trump administration-led peace initiatives, particularly from the perspective of the Kremlin.

Asked about his recent media training during the Geneva module in June this year, Filip commented that it had “been extremely practical. It helped me think more profoundly how best to prepare for interviews, as well as about managing my physical appearance and strategies for addressing questions during interviews. As a result, I feel more confident, more prepared, even when appearing on live television with the massive audiences and in long programmes (30+ minutes).”
