Alexander is a DPhil student in Computational and Mathematical Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. His doctoral research focuses on developing novel neural network architectures for drug discovery and early diagnosis in Alzheimer’s disease. He is the founder of OpenCivics, a non-profit organisation focused on advancing data-driven decision-making in government.
Before beginning his DPhil, he trained as a clinical psychologist, with early-career experience spanning Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme and psychometric test development. He later served as an adviser to Australia’s Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, where he was a primary advisor for mental health for the Commonwealth Government’s government Review of the COVID-19 Pandemic. He subsequently worked within the department’s lead quantitative research team, BETA, conducting quantitative analysis of systems medicine interventions. Alexander later conducted research into AI-enabled clinical review technologies designed to improve decision-making in complex care systems.
