Alina is completing her PhD in Social Anthropology through the Munich-Cambridge Strategic Partnership. As part of the ‘Beyond the nature/culture divide: Reimagining human-environment relations in museums’ project, her research operates at the interface of Science & Technology Studies, Museum Research and Ethnography. She investigates the history of colonial museum practice, as well as networks and logics of European extraction, as opposed to present-day Indigenous (Māori) resource management and scientific enquiry through an other-than-human lens: Her project focuses on the agency of pounamu (greenstone or nephrite) from Aotearoa New Zealand.
Alina has previously completed an MSc in Social Anthropology (University of Oxford), an MA in Religious and Cultural Studies (Humboldt University Berlin) and a BSc in Psychology and Journalism (Saarland University). She has worked in international project management, administration and data analysis before starting her PhD.
