Filip Scherf

Filip J. Scherf is a researcher, author, and policy analyst focused on Russia and European security. He is a Researcher at the University of St Andrews and an Europaeum Scholar. He lectures on political risk at Charles University and serves as Research Director at the Princeps Risk Intelligence Institute. Previously, he worked as a political risk consultant in Russia, researcher at Columbia University’s Harriman Institute, and at NATO PA in Brussels. He holds an MIA from Columbia SIPA and an MLitt from St Andrews, where he made the Dean’s List. His research earned Columbia’s Dasturdaza Dr. Jal Pavry Memorial Award for International Peace and Understanding. He was also a Harriman Junior Fellow, International Fellows Program member, and Robert Legvold Fellow. His book The Lost Land: A Story of Modern Russia (2024) was published in Czech and longlisted for the Czech Book of the Year Award.
