Our first and second cohort of Scholars met each other for the first time in Oxford. They were fortunate to be joined by Dr Danny Sriskanadarajah, the CEO of OxfamGB, who talked with them about what it means to be a civil society leader. He emphasised the importance of strategic thinking, individual commitment, and openness to systemic change when tackling the most pressing problems we face today. The inspiring and thought-provoking discussion also ranged from leadership values to the importance of connecting policy makers with academics and those most affected by policies to practical insights into the demands of running a large organization. We’re sure that the Scholars will continue to reflect on these issues for some time to come.
