
We are delighted to announce that the Europaeum has recently signed an agreement with the Bologna Initiative, which includes:
- the Department of Economics – University of Bologna (DSE);
- the Department of Legal Studies – University of Bologna (DSG);
- the Department of Political and Social Sciences – University of Bologna (SPS); and
- the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University SAIS Europe
and allows the respective departments to enjoy continued membership of the Europaeum and for Johns Hopkins SAIS Europe to join the network given the close alignment of participation in the Europaeum with its strategic interests.

The Europaeum Bologna Initiative therefore recognises the DSE, DSG and SPS, and SAIS Europe together as a joint member of the Europaeum, continuing the Europaeum’s highly valued tradition of a relationship with Bologna.
The Bologna Initiative joins our network of prestigious leading universities across Europe including:
- Pompeu Fabra University;
- Freie Universität Berlin;
- University of Copenhagen;
- Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies;
- University of Helsinki;
- Jagiellonian University;
- Leiden University;
- Catholic University of Portugal;
- University of Luxembourg;
- University of Oxford;
- Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München;
- University of Padua;
- Charles University;
- University of St Andrews;
- University of Tartu; and
- Central European University (CEU).
Master’s and PhD students from the SPS, DSG, DSE at University of Bologna and Johns Hopkins SAIS Europe will now be able to apply for and attend events held by the Europaeum member universities and to take part in our flagship programme, the Future Leaders of Europe – both aimed at improving cross-European collaboration between students across disciplines and borders.
