The University of Padua joins the Europaeum

We are delighted to announce that the University of Padua has joined the Europaeum network as of 31 March 2026.

Founded in 1222, the University of Padua is the second oldest university in Italy and currently has over 76,000 students enrolled on its courses.

Padua joins our network of prestigious leading universities across  Europe including:

  • Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona;
  • Freie Universität in Berlin;
  • the University of Copenhagen;
  • the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva;
  • Helsinki University;
  • Jagiellonian University in Kraków;
  • Leiden University;
  • the Catholic University of Portugal;
  • the University of Luxembourg;
  • the University of Oxford;
  • Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München;
  • Charles University in Prague;
  • the University of Tartu; and
  • the Central European University (CEU).

The Europaeum Acting Chair of Academic Council, Professor Wim van den Doel and a delegation from the Europaeum visited Padua on 31 March and signed the formal joining agreement with the University’s Rector, Professor Rector Daniela Mapelli.

Master’s and PhD students from the University of Padua will now be able to apply for and attend events held by the Europaeum member universities and to take part in our flagship programme, the Future Leaders of Europe – both aimed at improving cross-European collaboration between students across disciplines and borders.
